Ratana Pa-Class Visit

This morning at 9:30 we got on a bus and started to head to Ratana. When we got to Ratana,  named Andre showed us around. First we went to T. W. Ratana’s house and he talked a bit about something that had happened when Ratana lived there. Next, he showed us around this building (not inside) and we sat down in front of it to have lunch. We also went to this small building called Whare Maori and looked inside while Andre told us about why they had it there. One of the last things we did was go inside the church to look around and learn a bit about the building itself. Lastly, we went to a playground and got to play around for about 30 minutes before we went on the bus and got back to school. I really liked the trip, as I had fun and learned some new things. Have you ever been to Ratana’s playground?

Here’s a picture of the church that we went to in Ratana:

Ownership and Copyright

Today in room four, we learnt about what Copyright was and then we made a picture collage of photos that were on websites with free images. We also learnt what Public Domain means, Public Domain means something free for everyone to use – like the images I used for my collage. If the creator says its okay, it’s Public Domain.

Here is the collage I made with a Public Domain site with free AI images.

Did you know what Public Domain is??

Smart Media Creation

This afternoon in room 4, we made these pictures with words in them representing what we feel/do with family/friends and at school. Here is what I made, the family one is on the left and the school on the right. This was nice and easy to do even though using the website we had was a little struggle but I figured it out.

How do you feel at home or at school?

Media I have consumed-ICF

Today for ICF we were talking about different types of media and what media we have seen. Here is the Google drawing I made of what media I have consumed in the last 24 hours. There’s TV, games, signs and other things. This didn’t take me long to do so I found it very easy.

What is some media you have seen/consumed in the last 24 hours?

Kaitiakitanga art

Today in room 4 we made a drawing/poster about caring for our environment for a digital art competition that we had to make and finish today. I chose to do a drawing on sumo paint of someone throwing away some trash and there’s also a recycling symbol. I liked doing this task since I like drawing and I had a good idea for it, it was also very easy for me.

It says: [We should be caring for our earth/environment by picking up rubbish/not dropping it in the first place. To reduce the amount of trash going into the ocean and on the land we can recycle some of our rubbish to be made into other things people can use then recycle again.]     What are some ideas you have for caring for the earth/environment?

Cow poster

Last week in room four we were working on some stuff about dairy cows and we could either make a physical/digital poster or a story about dairy cows. I chose to make a poster about them and it was relatively easy but I think I wrote a little too much, as the poster is mostly just words.

Here it is anyways.

AI Animal images

Today in room four, I finished this task that was set for early/fast finishers this week and it’s about AI images of an animal. The animal I chose was a seal because it’s one of my favourite animals. We had to put in the image (that the website we were using generated) we had to put in what we typed on it and a sentence that the AI generated with the images. Do you have any favourite animals?

Here is my slideshow of AI images.

Shape poem.

This afternoon in room four we worked on a shape poem.

I decided to make an apple shaped one and I put the colour inside it. This was pretty easy to do but it was kind of annoying having to put the words in individually. Just in case you can’t read it it says: Big red fruit with seeds. As healthy as a carrot. Crunch! Fruity and sweet inside. Cold and juicy like an ice block.

What’s your favourite fruit/vegetable??
